Can you guess our new literacy topic?

Instructions! Today we have been seeing if we can follow oral (we someone tells them to us and we have to listen) instructions. It was a little bit messy!

We found out that we follow instructions all the time at school and we're usually really good at it. Here are some other pictures of us following instructions in a science lesson last week. We were doing an experiment to find out what objects magnets worked though. We found out they work through thinner objects like paper but not thick objects like our class dictionaries.

In literacy we are writing atmospheric passages that describe a setting. As a class we decided that it was important to have interesting adjectives, adverbs, powerful verbs, similes and correct punctuation. Have a look at Tahmed's description and see how many of these features you can spot.

This is Albion's spelling sentences homework. It is an excellent example of how the homework should look. It is neat and clear. There is a title which is underlined, he's written the date and he has underlined his spelling words. He has also written long and interesting sentences. Well done Albion!

Welcome to 3 Scarlet!

We have started off really well with so many star spellers. Please remember your spelling test in on a Monday. This is when you get your new spellings. You will also get maths homework on a Wednesday and Literacy homework on a Friday. This week in maths we are doing some number work so practise your number facts. In literacy we are writing an atmospheric setting description, so you need to read lots and look out for interesting adjectives.

Well done to our star spellers this week

Today in science we had such a fun lesson. We were finding out which magnets were the strongest. We were testing which magnets were the strongest. We did this by testing how many paper clips they could hold. The highest number was 40!

Remember children, look out for magnets and if you have any at home, bring them in.
