Light and Shadow

We are currently learning about light and shadow in science. We have learnt that a shadow is formed when an object blocks the light and creates a dark shape, the same shape as the object.

This week we drew round Mr Harwood's shadow and learnt that the position and length of a shadow changes throughout the day. This happens because the earth is rotating.

Natural History Museum Trip

We recently visited the Natural History Museum to see the Butterfly Jungle exhibition.

In the morning we walked around the museum, we particularly liked the moving dinosaurs!

Then we had lunch in Hyde Park and enjoyed the sunshine!

After lunch we went inside the Butterfly Jungle and saw lots of the butterflies we have learning about in science. Do you know what this butterfly is called?

Science - Helping Plants Grow Well

In Science this half term we have been learning all about plants. We now know the parts of a plant and have started to learn about the life cycle of a plant and the oxygen - carbon dioxide cycle.

To help us remember the life cycle of a plant we all made different parts of this wonderful display!

The October Gallery
On Tuesday we went to the October Gallery to look at the work of artist Nnenna Okore. She uses recycled materials to make her beautiful artwork.

We looked closely at her artwork and then created our own work. We had a fantastic time and would love it if you came up to Year 3 to see our artwork on display.
